I have read book 1 and 2, and have worked through book 1. Here's another video.

How many ski days did you spend working on Book 1?

you are going to have to start all over....go back to page 1 of book 1....

you need to spend hours working through each exercise sequentially...don't skip anything...set up, slide, stop...repeat...

build a slant board - work you way through these dryland exercise...

https://skiersynergy.com/index.php/vide ... -exercises

it's not what you want to hear, but we have all done it, and continue to do it...you never stop practicing the exercises/ drills..there isn't a part of the mountain that isn't used to improve or strengthen any of the essentials.

and another thing - your alignment needs to be properly checked - without it, your journey will stall..

post video of your drills..set up, slide, stop, repeat..

I can do that, but it will help if I know where I am and where I need to go.

What are specific things that I look like I am doing right, and what are specific things that I am not doing right, just looking at the videos? I am asking because I don't have the expertise to tell from watching comparison videos.

fair point..

you really do need to start from the beginning and make sure that you can execute every exercise in turn perfectly before moving forwards. this is the only way that you will lay the foundation for good movement patterns...

for example, can you complete the entire turn whilst balancing on one ski? if you follow the progression in the books, you will not only accomplish this, but it will become a solid foundation to you skiing that you can then start to work on your essentials...

watch this video, and it will demo how you should treat each exercise - setup, slide, stop repeat...

this may look simple, but it requires mastery of all of the essentials..this is what you are ultimately aiming for...

video your exercise practice and study them...if you get stuck, post them to get some MA..do them slowly, you can't cheat balance at slow speed..

visit the Harb Ski Systems video section - https://harbskisystems.com/collections/books-videos

at the very least, download the accompanying video for Books 1 & 2...

Thank you. I have seen those videos, have completed all exercises in book 1, and have those DVDs.

I would really like to hear specific things I am doing correctly now, and specific things that I am not.

As you wait for a more detailed response, you might find this list created by Max501 to be helpful:

Is the stance width appropriate for the size of the skier?
Does the release start by flexing the outside leg?
Does LTE tipping lead engagement to the new turn?
Are the feet pulled back at transition?
Is the inside foot held back throughout the turn?
Is there enough CB and CA and is the timing right?
Is the pelvis included in the CB/CA movement?
Strong inside arm?
Is the inside leg flexed as the turn progresses?
Does the outside leg extend naturally (no pushing) as the turn progresses?
Does LTE tipping continue throughout the turn?
Is the skier balanced over the outside ski?
Is there a pole touch and how is the movement and timing?
Alignment - watch the skis and knees carefully - does anything look like it needs to be tipped in or out?

The advice from go_large_or_go_home seems to be your best bet so far, especially the bit about starting over/book 1, page 1:

Thanks, yeah I have seen that post in a sticky. I can't seem to really answer many of those questions looking at the video myself, probably because I'm not sure about the degree to which each of those movements need to happen, correct timing, etc. I will wait for the more detailed reply.

With respect, here is your absolute best bet. Get yourself to Welch Village to a PMTS Green Camp by next Tuesday, 2/5 thru 2/8. It's the thing that is going to address your questions with the detail, understanding and actual physical work and practice of what PMTS is all about. There are still openings according to the site listed below. Welch is located just outside of Redwing, MN which is close by and a great place to stay.

I thought Movement Analysis forum exists exactly for this kind of feedback when learning by oneself? As a student, I I can't really afford to pay for camps and travel. It's already been hard getting good skis, good boots, good insoles, alignment, and educational materials. I'm skiing on a student pass also.
