Comparing boot Flex ratings

Postby Sam Snead » Fri Dec 07, 2007 11:42 am

Does anyone have information on comparable flex ratings between the Nordica Line (Dobermann) & The old Head ie. 8.5-9.3 and new head numbering system for the S & RS series boots?

My son is 12 yrs 110 lbs K1 racer and growing fast.

He has Jr. Dobermann 70's that are getting too small.

He has Fred Flintstone feet. He'll be in a 25 or 26 boot.

Considering the skunkworks recommendations on stiff boots and my own success with the same approach I am thinking about putting him a pair of head Rs80 or S8's ( 103 last) with the screws taken out of the spine intially.

I have pics of him really bending his laminate Jr. SL Nordicas going through the gates from last year so I know he could apply the required force with the dobermanns then and he's much bigger this year.

Thanks.

Update -

Put my son into the old model head RS80's with the screws taken out of the spine. He tells me they are much stiffer to ski in than his 70 flex junior dobermans.

He is skiing well in the powder, soft bumps & the gates.

So for both of us stiff boots do work well. Even for competent Juniors.
