Lance Armstrong wins (sorry update: loses) case on doping!

Postby Harald » Thu Jun 01, 2006 3:54 pm

This statement from the Hamilton web site sums it up very well.

So...the independent investigator has now confirmed what we knew all along: that WADA targets high profile athletes unfairly, that it does not follow its own rules for procedure and confidentiality, that it says one thing publicly and does quite another behind the scenes, that it uses its power to silence critics and coerce unfair attribution and leaking of test results while it maintains a false front of innocence and impartiality, and that it believes it can just stonewall when asked for information about its activities or to cooperate with investigations of testing protocol, procedures or results.

http://www.smh.com.au/news/sport/dutch- ... 27078.html

So what's new? Well, in this case with Lance it is not just an athlete caught in the witch hunt who is trying to regain his or her place in sport by pointing the finger at WADA.

This is an independent investigator with flawless credentials, calling for an overhaul of WADA and suggesting that a full investigation be undertaken by a competent legal authority to identify possible criminal misconduct by WADA.

I think Dick Pound just got his knickers caught in the wringer!

Tyler Hamilton is caught in this web. So where is the jerk that was trying to ruin Tyler's reputation now? Oh, I forgot, I kicked him off the forum.

I figured that Tyler had no chance of being exonerated. It was clear that they were out for blood from day one. They couldn't nail Lance, so somebody had to pay. Maybe I'm just a homeboy, but the statement that was released suggesting that Lances' test results had been questionably misrepresented makes the case against Tyler, at least in my mind, even more murky.

I have probably repeated myself on this already far too often, but here goes again. There is no way in Hell that Tyler Hamilton did Blood doping. I know his family, his parents and I worked together, and Tyler was brought up in a wonderful family. I saw him work and compete for years, I coached both Jeff, his brother, and Tyler, there is not a cheating bone in their bodies.

Wada was out to get him and they did, it hurt the sport and a great rider and person.

Gina, you are right, but Tyler has a lot left in the tank, he didn't start racing seriously unitl he was in college. He is very young for 35, he's light and has great weight to muscle mass ratios. Look at the 37 and 38 yr old guys that are at the top of their game.

In fact even 57 yrs old, yesterday I equaled my best last season ride on the hill climb up Mt Evans. I'm two months ahead of schedule. Got to ride harder every year to be able to ride Harrison's wheel.

Maybe, but unlike this case, there were no major independent labs that exonerated Tyler. I'm not saying he did it or didn't, but when you have a major lab say, "the results are bogus", that's a huge help for your case (and that's the one thing Tyler didn't have).

Good article on the points of the case

I just hope somebody picks him up when he returns (anybody have a date for that?)

trial by jury

Postby John Mason » Tue Jun 06, 2006 2:13 pm

Isn't it interesting after all these centuries that the simple right of trial by jury is non-existent in these pseudo quasi governmental like sports regulatory bodies.

None of the 'evidence' for his suspension looks valid or trustworthy at all. Blood type didn't even match on the reported sample. Just amazing. That the suspension is being upheld is even more amazing.

But not surprising.

Looks like a flury of News/names implicated in the growing "Operaci?n Puerto" scandal. This could easily rival festiva, if not be larger. Some very familiar names (Jan for one). El Pa?s has documents with names etc, that look very bad for these folks. According to yet unreleased documents, 58 riders can be tied to Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes. That's pretty damning. Hold on folks, the fallout has just begun....
