Your movements are ok, but you need to balance on the stance ski. That will give you both form and function.

Thanks again (after two years) for the encouraging words. I said I will be back :D

I will keep updating videos of my progress (hopefully the progress will keep coming).

Please help MA my wife's one footed release practice. She seems to make tight turns, but a comparison to HH's OFR video gives us a feeling of something wrong in there, yet we can't figure out exactly what might be wrong.

We also doubt if, in an OFR, we should tip the inside ski all the way, or to tip it to release, then stop and wait until the fall line before tipping again (like in a TFR)? Also, the inside foot should pull back and be pressed to stance foot all the time, or only starting these at a certain phase before fall line? We have read books countless times, but still want an authoritative answer so we don't practise it wrongly.

Any help or comments will be greatly appreciated.

1) At the start point the hip/pelvis down the hill (CA) as much as possible. Then lift and tip, tip more, keep on tipping.

2) When that looks good add in counter acting for the next turn (end the turn counter acted rather than square).

Thanks! She is now trying to perfect individual OFRs and TFRs before linking them. This is her 2nd year of PMTS practice but she learns much faster than me. She is very scared of speed, and it was pmts movements that gave her control and confidence.

Like Max said, tip, tip more, keep on tipping...

Ideally, you should be able to keep the free foot pressed against the stance foot throughout the whole turn.

On the plus side,

She's balancing on one foot throughout the turn. That's not easy, a lot of folks have trouble with that (myself included).

The turns are tight, she's doing a good job pulling her free foot back and keeping her hips forward.

Where she needs improvement is in the release.

She's rushing the turns, starting each turn by extending the stance leg rather than flexing.

In her hurry to "get the turn going" she's also twisting in the direction of turn instead of counteracting.

She needs to initiate the turn by tipping the free foot and continuing to tip it while relaxing the stance leg to flatten the ski.

She needs to be patient and let physics do the work.

Once the stance ski is flat, if the free foot is tipped and pulled back enough, and her hips are properly forward, gravity will start the turn for her. Then she can dial up CA and CB to maintain her balance on the stance ski and tipping of the free foot until completing the turn.

Many thanks PC! I was suspecting the same when seeing that little 'jerk' at the very beginning of a release. We will work on adding CA, eliminating extension and being more patient.

Just would like to ask what would be her SMIM? CA? foot pull back? flex? (We certainly know everything needs work.)

BTW, is it recommended to move binding on MYA7 forward? If so, how much? She is skiing on 156cm.

Many thanks.
