I got video - short turns, free skiing

Postby Petter_F » Mon Feb 14, 2011 9:06 am

Recently, I uploaded a clip of phantom turns for MA http://www.pmts.org/pmtsforum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3191. In that thread I was pointed towards my SMIM to work on - tipping.

However, as I have such little footage of me skiing I thought I'd put this up as well, in case there is anything just as blarring that sticks out that I could work on at the same time.

There is a good dusting of fresh snow which added a somewhat new dimension for me.

Thanks in advance.

It looks to me that your skis change direction before your edges change.

What i see is the rotation of the shoulder that initiate the turn and you lost balance af ew time at the end of your turn because of that rotation and the lining that come with.

Nice improved tipping! Keep at it. More and more tipping. The more tipping you do early the quicker the skis will turn for you. Compare your left and right turns. When you are turning to the left (sometimes called a right footer because the right foot is the outside foot) you need more CB/CA from the start of the turn.

Notice how nice and balanced you are on this right turn (left footer) -

The left footers all have a stem entry though. Find your left little toe edge.

Sometimes we can see a slight stem but in others its not there.

More early tipping will help.

I really can't see this as a SMIM problem, what time in the clip are you referring to?

Sure there could be more of a strong arm on the inside, but I think the feet should be worked on first.

I admit I have discounted the stopping turns, even though we all know that the last turn is the most important one.

Here is a few spot check for the rotation when Petter turned to the right. You can easily see this by the movement of the shoulder and the left arm that moved forward .
1.05sec , 1,31, 1.39 and 1,43. It happened other places but lets start from there
