Hi what camera did you use to film your skiing? The quality is really great! Sorry I can't help out about your MA.

Hi Nickia, i've used a Sony HDR-XR500 with a wide angle, you can zoom and obtain a great film without any distorsion of the image.

Does no one want to take a gander at analyzing this skiing?
I believe this is one of the most valuable parts of this site.
Anyone have a critical eye?

You could hardly call my eye critical, but here goes. From my point of view, the upper body needs some more work; CA and CB seem to be consistently late.

Just to let you know guy that i was practicing Brushed turn. Since I took those videos I decided to cut my pole by 2 inches. I am going to take new video to show medium carved turn. It will be easier to see what is working properly and the missing element.

Also on those video I was practicing the no swing pole plant and it made a good improvement on my CA compare to the video i took in march (see the video with the blue jacket). However my left arm still has a tendency to cross my boot and create some rotation.

The hands seem to indicate that the upper body is leaning a bit.
And there is a bit of up-unweighting which also probably is related to the leaning.

But the turns look pretty good to me.

Holmz, i think i should concentrate more on flexing and tipping to eliminate the up-movement. What do you suggest?

Hopefully more experienced eyes will chime in on what your SMIM to focus on is.....
I thought that you were too far back on your skis resulting in consistent heel pushing in your turns.

I agree with others here, your counterbalancing needs work. You have better CB turning right on the trail, but minimal to the left.

I would suggest picking a couple of drills from the books focused on improving fore/aft balance. See what doing these drills on easier pitches, in slower motion, tells you about your balance.

Then move on to working on counteracting more and counter balancing. Have more video to see if your left and right are more equal.

Others have said this, but it is true. Taking a camp trains your eyes to see what works and does not. I was not able to attend a camp this year and feel the loss of focus.
Make an effort to do a camp. Tremendous!

My amateur two bits...

Start from the feet up.

Between the videos, there are a couple of good frames with the skis near flat in release and a clear view of the skis. Which ski is a little flatter to the snow in these frames? Occasionally, your feet split apart in transition and then come back together; this is the same phenomenon, an overhasty move to the new BTE.

Focus on tipping the old LTE an extra 20% at the end of the turn and firmly establishing balance on it before tipping to engage the new edges -- this is the superphantom move. The effort to tip 20% extra will keep the ski from flopping down and will add some oomph to your turns. For learning, exaggerate by doing what jbotti calls "hippo turns." Traverse balancing on the old LTE counting "one hippopotamus" "two hippopotamus" before engaging to turn. Then "one hippopotamus" and later "one hippo." The goal is to find your place of safety* on the LTE at the start of each transition and take this into your freeskiing. (* "place of safety" is skiersynergy's excellent name for this.)

Today i went to ski and practiced Traverse balancing on the old LTE counting "one hippopotamus, however the hill was so icy and the snow so hard that i was not able to stay on the old LTE. I've tried the javelin turn and had no succes either. When it is icy i found it very hard to gain that extra 20 % of tipping at the end of the turn. I decided to come back to 2 foot release and to other basic thing like release go in the fall line and tip to do only one turn. When it is icy i feel like i am stepping back. Finally i went to the ski shop and ask for a fine tuning of my edge.
We had a lot of rain recently and the ttemperature dropped to - 13 C so it is a real challenge to carve without losing and edge. What is the best exercise to do when it is so icy?

Are you flexing to release? On an easy slope, try skiing across the hill on the inside edge of your downhill ski. Relax that leg and ski on the outside edge of the uphill ski without extending that leg. Retract the downhill let more as you tip it and tip it more and retract it more and come around in a turn. Repeat, repeat. Concentrate on what your outside leg is doing...extending or retracting (flexing).

On the steep icy stuff, do you engage your new inside edges before your skis are aimed down the fall line? This is the upper third of the turn, the High C. You need to tip and get your body over your skis to get the new inside edges engaged while you are in that upper third of the turn. And the front half of the inside edge of the new outside ski. You must strongly pull both feet back behind you as you begin your turn and strongly pull the inside foot back all the time through the turn.
