skiing yet?

It's really frustrating reading about the opening of 2 mountains in Colorado and substantial amounts of natural snow.
Anyone been skiing yet? Tell a junkie how it was.

I know how you feel; the only thing that calmed me down a bit was buying some new boards Saturday. :)

Actually, I could see some snow up on Mt. Washington, and if I had driven through the Kanc or up to Bretton Woods, I understand I could actually have touched some ... hopefully the end of this week it'll start.

Most of the mountains in NE got a dusting of snow, Sunday River's website shows that they got enough to cover the trails at Jordan Bowl. We have a solid week of cold weather coming up, I will be very disappointed if Killington isn't blowing snow very soon, they are certainly going to have the extended cold weather forecast they claim they were waiting for.

So far I skied every weekend (A-Basin). The snow conditions are terrific.
On the down part you can make only 3 runs in two hours -- the lines on the weekend are hard to describe. But I would not complain.
Today on my way down from A-Basin to Silverthorne I saw that Keystone snowmaking is in full speed.
Its only three weeks before other resorts will start opening and hopefuly we'll have more snow on the way.

Say Hobbit, have you been to Loveland yet? I saw some pictures someone over at Epic had posted and it looked awesome.

And yet by the time you hit April, when there is tons of snow and most of the mountain is open there seems to be few people skiing. Go figure.

Hi Mac,

I do not ski in Loveland (last year skiing with you and Billy was the only exception). But Loveland is Harald's home mountain I believe.
I just like to go up fast and ski down slowly. I usually fall asleep on Loveland's chair #2  .

This is one of the best kept secrets :). Spring (I would call it Summer) skiing in A-Basin is fantastic! Ask John Mason on how he sunk in the snow waist deep while skiing with us couple of years ago  . He was too heavy -- it was before he started running.

Hobbit, as I remember, you like to go up fast and go down faster! I'm going to be in the area from Nov. 15th-19th (Wednesday thru Sunday). I've got some business to tend to on Thursday and Friday, but if you want to ski on Saturday, I'll be glad to hook up with you. By then, Copper, Breck, Keystone and Vail will all be open, so that should spread the crowds out a bit, but ABasin would be fine with me.

Sure Mac,

Just send me a PM a few days in advance before your visit and we'll discuss the details.
