Shhhhhh, don't tell Pam, but when she's free skiing and thinks nobody is looking, her stance not wide at all, it's narrow like the rest of us! Oooops.

e.g. here at 2:45

Skiing: falling down the mountain with style.

Come on Man!

I see incorrect movements, no matter who she is/was, those movements are in no way the goal of a PMTS practitioner.

Perhaps the "magic under your feet" she is referring to are the Icon TT skis (1:04 in the video) she's looks to be using...

Maybe she has had multiple clinics at Sugarbush, but I saw her and a group
working on that trail this past February at the PMTS Northeast Meet Up.

The focus was filming her teaching more than her teaching a class.
Jim and I got some looks as we skied past.

I don't think they approved of our "less than shoulder width" narrower stance.

She actually skis very nicely when she's not listening to her own advice. But as I said before, I believe that the vertical separation of the skis will happen on it's own based on the aggressiveness of the skier and the steepness of the slope. Harald's avatar is a good example of that. It shouldn't be a contrived position. Let it happen, don't force it to happen. That's why she is in a fairly narrow stance when she's freeskiing. The conditions don't call for very much vertical separation under those circumstances. I don't really think about it when I'm skiing. I just focus on what my feet are doing, and my stance width more or less just takes care of itself.

Vertical separation does not happen on its own for the average skier.

I don't know why so much focus on Pam. She is not a ski teacher or a coach, she is a celebrity.

How to ski bumps from Ski magazine:

The "correct" image cracks me up. C'mon, man! With that much inclination in the bumps (or anywhere) you are destined for failure.

You can ski bumps like that but not for long.

I figured I would add these to the topic.

These maneuvers are on the opposite end of the "Zero Energy", two footed release PMTS turns and will lead you to the "Dead-end movement pool".

Come on Gregg, I'm sure Kasper Nolan practices those every day, otherwise how could he possibly be so good at pivoting?

I know Gregg gets the reference, but for those that didn't it's from this post on the other thread about "New Boy".

HighAngles said:
The conversation on Epic is about how Kasper Nolan's run is filled with a "ton of pivots". Really?

If you can't hold an edge with some or a little pivot, I'm wondering how you do it with, "Tons of Pivot". I guess you just have to watch the skier who posted it ski, that usually explains it, let me guess, was it Fastman?

Getting the bulk of the turn done before the gate is almost always slower than centering the apex at the gate. It requires a racer to travel further, and to turn more out of the falline. It's old school advice given to kids with lower level skills, as a way to stay on a safe line. Safe is not fast.

Another gem from Epic. Why is it that they have no idea what racing is about?

The very line that they are saying is wrong or slow, is exactly what won Innerhofer the Gold at the World Championships and a Sliver in the GS. Everyone else was on Rick's line and we all know how well that turned out.
