Very interesting. Thanks for posting this. Have you read his book, "Back Mechanic"?

Yes, I'm reading it now.

I have begun the program outlined in the book (as "prescribed" for my problem) :
* stopped doing my resistance training exercises that had a lot of twist to the spine
* stopped doing what McGill calls the "silly stretches"
* stopped doing the Scorpion stretch
* trying not to twist or flex the spine in daily activities
* trying to walk every day
* training the core w McGills "big 3"

I ordered the book and should get it next week. My lower back is acting up now. It is very frustrating and I've been dealing with it for most of my life. I watched some youtube videos on the big 3 and started to do them this morning. I hope that takes care of it. My goal is to definitely not have any back pain when I go to camp in February.

I've been frustrated lately because I keep hurting my back while working out.

Stumbled on The Back Mechanic, which has been a great help. Also quit the exercises that involve a spinal twist, as well as the "silly stretches," and have become more aware of pain triggers to avoid.

And have started on the Big 3.

I've also found that Esther Gokhale's ideas on the "J spine" posture to be really helpful in improving my back.
