Hamstrings....

Hamstrings....

Just curious...

I was performing some hamstring curls on a seated machine today. I wondered if I could close my eyes and sort of simulate and apply the same amount of pressure on my hamstrings that I feel when tipping and pulling back my free foot (LTE) through a turn. It seemed like 45 lbs was about same pressure I experience (single leg).

Then, I started thinking about the difference between people like me with very tight hamstrings (like guitar strings) vs. people who have much looser hamstrings and what differences there might be in pulling the feet back under the hips....

Any thoughts..?

I think back hyper-extensions simulate the feel more closely - more concentrated in the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings.

Yep... I agree. I do those too! Both forward and backward on a Roman Chair. Do you do them on the ground, Swiss Ball or Roman Chair, other? I work core a lot as I have always been plagued with lower back issues.. so it really pays to keep it strong. Hasn't bothered me in years.

I was just trying to isolate the feel of the hamstring and put a number to it.
