Biking for Ski Fitness

Does anyone have a good idea whether an upright stationary bike is more or less effectlive than a recumbent stationary bike??

I know HH likes biking as a good ski prep excercise, but didn't know if the different angles had any adverse effect on the ski related hip/leg muscles??
