Northeast Instructor for late December or most of January?

Postby hyper_squirrel7 » Sun Oct 07, 2012 8:45 pm

Hello! I am a college-aged girl in the northeast looking for a PMTS instructor. I am an intermediate skier who was told skis about a PSIA level 6/7. I have expert skier 2 and essentials and have skimmed both the books so far, though I will need to find time to read them in detail. I am intrigued by PMTS and would like a shot at it. I have very soft recreational boots so is a boot-fitting also possible? I live in PA and go to school in NYC, but I can commute as far as VT and NH if needed, though closer to the mid-atlantic would be more ideal.

For dates, I am available anytime from after Christmas to January 25th. I cannot afford to fly out west as I'm on a budget, so camps and getting lessons from HH himself are out of the question.

Thanks for your time and hope to hear back!

Hi Hyper Squirrel

That's a tough one. There are few east coast options for PMTS coaches.
Unless Heluva starts an east coast empire. (please!)

Plan ahead for next year and commit in July to doing a January camp.
I am sorry I didn't this year. Hard to get a private lesson with any of the PMTS coaches that fit into my NYC
schedule either!

Welcome! Finding PMTS around the NE is not easy but it can be done:

Richard Bennett (posts under Zuschauer)
Three Rivers Ski (near Pittsburgh)
724-778-5490
3riverski@gmail.com
web: 3riverski.com

Glen Scannell
(603) 254-5749
Works out of a shop in Waterville Valley, NH

Also, if you look under Posse you will see that for the last couple of years there's been an informal PMTS get together in VT around Feb.

BTW, I highly recommend getting at least the Essentials DVDs. It's challenging to learn to ski from a book.
Skiing: falling down the mountain with style.
