Short Turn Session 1 - Lodging & Ticket Info

Hello Harb Ski Campers!

We hope that you are enjoying your summer, and starting to think about the upcoming winter and ski season. If you are planning your lodging during the Arapahoe Basin Short Turn Camp (Session 1), here is some information.

You may lodge anywhere you like during the camp. There is no lodging at Arapahoe Basin itself. The closest lodging options are at Keystone, about 10 minutes away. Most campers stay in Summit county - Keystone, Silverthorne, and Dillon. Those locations are all within a 20-minute drive of the ski area. It's easiest to get around if you have a car.

No Car? Ride Share
There is a good chance that the Summit Stage bus service that connects Keystone to Arapahoe Basin will not be operating for this camp. So, if you are hoping to attend camp without a car, please post on the forum that you need to share a ride. Hopefully there's another camper with a car who will share with you.

Rental Cars - convenient
The easiest mode of transportation is to rent a car for the entire camp at the Denver Airport. However, the airport rental taxes are high so this is not necessarily the cheapest option.

Rental cars - less expensive

Method 1. Shuttle to the mountains then rent a car in Frisco.
You can book a shuttle between Denver International Airport and your lodging with several companies including...
Peak 1 Express:
http://www.mountainshuttle.com/
Summit Express:
http://www.summitexpress.com/
Colorado Mountain Express (“CME”):
http://www.coloradomountainexpress.com/

Method 2. Rent in Denver at an off-airport site
For instance, you can rent cars at the old Stapleton airport location. There are buses that will take you there. This is definitely less convenient, but will probably save you half off the DIA rate.

Alignment Pre-days
If you are arriving early for camp and wish to have an indoor alignment session done prior to camp, we do have openings at our shop (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday prior to camp), and at the alignment condo (Sunday, Nov. 15, 5-7 PM only). [The shop is directly on your way from the airport to Keystone, but you'll need to have a car to come there.] If you’d like to schedule a pre-day appointment, please email us as soon as you have your travel planned (or start planning it) so that we can book a time for you.

Alignment Condo
We have booked a condo at Keystone that will be the “alignment condo” during camp. That's where we'll have our afternoon footbed/equipment/alignment measurement sessions. We are in the West Keystone area, Antlers Gulch Townhomes. It's about 1/2 mile west of the Keystone Grocery & Gas, just off State Hwy 6.

Keystone Resort Lodging
Keystone Resort has many lodging options, from hotel to condo to cabin to B&B, all accessible on their web site. You can book lodging at Keystone online or by phone
http://www.keystoneresort.com/
Phone: 1-800-328-1323

You can often get good deals through vrbo.com for lodging in Keystone Resport...

Other Lodging
Other lodging options can be found on Arapahoe Basin's website:
http://www.arapahoebasin.com/
Click on “The Mountain” on the main menu, then click on “Lodging”

Lift Tickets - Important!
Arapahoe Basin has several ticket and pass options that you can use for camp. Since these are such a good deal, we do not have group rate tickets for our camps. Please buy one of these options instead.
These include:
***Season passes...
Adult... $299
Seniors (70+)... $TBD (Always inexpensive, generally <$100!! Bring your photo ID on the first day of camp.)
***Multi-day passes
(Prices not available at time of this posting, end of June)

All the Arapahoe Basin options can be purchased on their web site under the “Ticket & Passes” heading
http://arapahoebasin.com/ABasin/tickets ... fault.aspx

***If you want a season pass that’s also good at Vail Resort ski areas, then you can buy different types of Epic season passes. Read carefully to make sure that your Epic pass includes Arapahoe Basin.

If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail or call us at the shop.

Agreed!

Last February we rented from Avis/Aurora CO instead of Avis/DIA. Same vehicle, same number of days, $385 vs. $1,215! We took a 20 minute taxi ride, tipped the driver generously for schlepping our gear and saved $800.

Further, the rental companies won't charge a fee for dropping the car at their DIA lot on your way home. That's where they need most of their cars anyway.
