Deer Valley and Utah

Postby DVLocal » Tue Oct 25, 2005 8:56 am

Want to extend an invitation to ski at Deer Valley and other places. I ski primarily mid-week at Deer Valley and would enjoy some company. This is great skiing and is more fun with others.

I am looking also for partners for Powder Mountain - some of that is best skied with a partner - especially the side with the bus lift ride back.

Life is hard

Poor Colin--

He moved from Tahoe to Heber City for better skiing and golf, and now he sneaks into Deer Valley via the Jordanelle Gondola.

I'm still on for 12/12-12/18. Do you have any suggestions for lift ticket bargains?

REI Has the Best Deals

Postby DVLocal » Tue Oct 25, 2005 9:53 am

REI has the best deals I have found. There are some locals deals, but for visitors I would plan the following:

1. You can ski the rest of the day you flew in for free at several areas.
2. REI - I215 south of I80 - fast access from I215 at 3300 I think.
3. If you are staying on the Wasatch Front (Salt Lake City or that area) the hotels have special deals with tickets good for all 4 areas and you can upgrade the ticket to be both Alta and Snowbird in one day.

I will be coming into Utah and staying at Snowbird 12-12 till 12-21. I will be skiing at least 3 days (package deal tickets) at Snowbird. I would'nt mind checking out other places if someone knew the areas. This is my first time to Utah.

New agenda,

I will be flying in on the 14th and leaving the evening of the 21st. Skiing the 15th to the 21st. I like to ski it all, however I usually opt for the 10ft cliffs vs. the 100ft. If anyone wants to hang or even play tour guide, I would be interested.

I will be skiing Utah the last week of January, first week of February next year. Had a great time making turns with Colin last season and plan on hooking up again at Deer Valley. My place of choice for lodging is the Residence Inn-Cottonwood. It's a good location for the Big and Little canyons and only about forty minutes from the Park City area.

Timeshare

Postby rbrooks » Fri Nov 04, 2005 10:31 am

I may or may not be typical, but when I come to Utah, it's for a Sat-Sat or a Sun-Sun vacation with my wife. We stay in a timeshare in Park City, of which there are at least a dozen, and spread out for a week with a kitchen, living room, 1 or 2 bedrooms, and all the creature comforts I can obtain.

Ebay, skyauction, tug2.net, redweek, luxurylink, and vrbo are all sites that I use to get a good price for a week I can get away. My current favorite is Marriott Mountainside--walk past the hot tubs, duck under the rope, and ski 150 yards down to the Payday lift.

We shuttle from SLC, and the Park City shuttle to downtown, Deer Valley or The Canyons is so efficient (and free) that we don't even rent a car. Of course, if you want to go elsewhere, you might need one.

Snowbird has a couple of timeshares whose owners rent them out, as does Brian Head, Solitude and Powder.

Anyway, it's an alternative. As I said, we'll be there 12/11-12/18.

look him up

Postby rbrooks » Mon Dec 19, 2005 1:07 pm

Hi guys--

If you find yourself in Park City and want to have a great day with a PMTS skier, be sure to look up DVLocal (Colin). He'd be a turn in front of me, then zoom--he'd be halfway down the run by the time I'd look up. He can bend 'em till they grin.

His real passion is to go off-piste at Powder Mountain. Heyoka, I think you ought to take a trip across the border for some Utard milk.

Anyway, that's my posse report till camp in January.

Merry Christmas, all.
