Pinterault!!

Pinterault!!

Postby jbotti » Fri Mar 04, 2016 10:03 am

Alexis won his fourth GS in a row today at Kranska Gora. He has always been a joy to watch when he skies well. Consistency has been his real issue but for the past 6 weeks he has essentially been unbeatable in GS. They have another one tomorrow on the same hill and then again at the WC finals in 2 weeks. If he wins both (have to think that will be hard to do even as well as he is skiing) he has a shot to win the GS globe this year.

Hirscher looks tired and he is older the Pinreault. He is still among the most gracious sportsman of any era. He said this today about Pinterault:

“If Alexis is skiing as he showed us in the last couple of races, he will win the GS globe,” he added. “That is for sure because at the moment, he is amazing.”

Hirscher isn't done yet. His skis are still not as good as Heads in GS and Super G. Now Head has finally figured out a slalom boot and ski combination that works; it will require that Atomic really moves their equipment forward. Hirscher got worn out this season, and so did Henrik Kristofferson You can really tell when they are exhausted their skiing goes off by a second or more a run. If Hirscher learns to pace himself better and gets more S-G wins; he could have 6 or 7 World Cup titles in a row. He still won 8 races this year. And he only missed winning a few slaloms to Henrik Kristofferson by a few hundredths. His best years are still ahead. Sure hope Fenninger can come back and ski like she knows how????

Does Head have a slalom ski that anyone wants to ski? If they get one you would think Hirscher and other LT atomic skiers would make the jump. Pinterault did get some time off mid-season when he had a mild concussion from a fall. Could be why he was so strong in the last 6-7 weeks.

Head is still getting over their Bode hangover experience. He demanded such weird skis, designed just for him and that ruined it for everyone else for a long time. André Myhrer and Pinterault have made huge strides on Heads. The GS skis have been top notch, it's the slalom product that was in question. They finally got Myhrer's slalom boots figured out, he won the last race. Also Pinterault's GS was terrible even last year, it wasn't the skis, it was the boots. They have it figured out, and by next season, they may even have Pinerault's slalom boots right.
