Hirscher sets new record.

Hirscher sets new record.

The Garmisch Partenkirchen (GER)Giant Slalom - Men - World Cup was won by 3.28 seconds and by over 2 seconds in one run. No one has done this since Ingmar Stenmark. This also followed another podium sweep by the Austrian downhillers and Anna Fenninger's win. Did they change water bottle sponsors or something. Hirscher is almost assured his 4th overall globe in a row, no one has ever done this.

Hirscher says in the interview he had and has no idea why he was 2 seconds faster then anyone. He said he just skied a normal run, according to his plan. The kids around him during the interview are so in awe, it's great to see. Austrian kids want to be the next Hirscher.

I haven't watched it yet today but I would bet that he dialed it back today (at Kranska Gora) and was skiing to win the overall and that's why he finished second.

He is skiing erratically, sometimes he's pressing, sometimes he's out of balance, he's often in the air, not his normal skiing. He's about to set a record that has never been achieved in skiing so there is reason to be nervous. Plus he is battling for the slalom globe, rapped up the GS globe.
