Vonn

I fear the same. My guess is that if this was not an Olympic year she would be taking a much different approach. You just hope that she doesn't do more damage and hurt her career in the quest to get a medal at Sochi.

Can you imagine the pressure she's under?

- Sponsorship deals with all kinds of various international brands.
- The pre-supposed "Disney" media outcome where she medals at the Olympics despite injuries, setbacks, etc. I guarantee the stories are already in draft form with several different endings - ready for launch.
- The Team...

I totally agree with Harald regarding the physiology of that knee holding up. The mental stuff is anyone's guess. She's tough... but maybe to a fault.

Not to be a "downer" but I hope she even makes it to Sochi....

Lindsey is back on snow doing some free skiing. Apparently she had no issues.

Key word "Apparently". As she was "Apparently" also healed and ready for the Beaver Creek races.

Does not sound all that good. Knowing she needs surgery to repair the ACL again says that this is more than a mild partial tear. But hey maybe ACL's are highly overrated :D

If she was smart she would back off on the World Cup for this season and just concentrate on being back in top shape for Sochi. She's not going to be around for another Olympics beyond Sochi (at least not in contention).

I have no ACL in my right knee and it's been like that for a long time but when I first injured my knee it was debilitating for some time!

I cannot see LV's knee repairing properly while poor alignment is an issue and I am very surprised the cause of the problem seems to be being overlooked. Ie I don't believe the crash was the cause of the ACL injury I suspect she blew her ACL and crashed as a result. It is concerning to see such talent wasted like this.

She made it down, but it couldn't have been pretty. Not fast, only beat 4 girls ahead of her starting from bib 18. Definitely not the wind--Maria Reisch is sitting in 1st having started two bibs after Lindsey. Will be interesting to hear the post-race interview...

Wow, Lindsey didn't even make the top 30. That won't be good for her confidence. Bad day for the Americans all around. Jules is mired in the 20s and Stacey Cook is clinging to 30th at the moment...Nobody else made it inside the top 30. Maybe Julia Ford can make a run from the back...

Well, Julia Ford uncorked one from bib 56 to finish 22. Great run for her. She's the top American, with Jules finishing 27th. Lindsey ended up 41st--more than 3 seconds off the pace.

Every time she takes air and lands in that A-frame thing she's got going on I just cringe...
