New IM 88's

Postby Belskisfast » Tue Nov 15, 2005 10:17 am

MOJO bindtngs are mounted with no plate or riser, and the skis look so different. I haven't bought a pair of skis since 1995 without some riser plate etc. on them. I have heard no riser is a better set up for powder skiing. Anyone have opinions on this?

I haven't seen them but HH said this in the other IM88 thread...

"I ski it in 174cm with a MOJO binding, it comes with a lift."

Max, Tahoe DemoCenter says there is no plate with the MOJO and The Tyrolia website http://www.tyrolia.com/index.php?useflash=false&l=2 bears that out.
I am with you in wondering if a riser/lift/plate etc. would be a good idea on a wide Powder ski. I did talk w/Chris at the Dumont Skunk Works (the monicker SCSA gave them...which I think is so cool...) and he opined that a lift would probably be benificial to aid tipping a ski which is so wide under foot. Sounds right to me but....???? I am planning on skiing them as is and then deciding if I want to put a lift on them. It would be great if some folks who may have experience w/"Fattys" with and without lifts would chime in here.

The 88's are full on race ski laminate wood core construction, and appear to be exceptionally well made.

I wonder if you can get a wide enough brake for the FreeFlex bindings to fit on the IM88?

Max the stand heigh of 21mm is the same for the Mojo and the Freeflex. A separate riser would be needed for either binding to increase height. I wonder which plate would work, and I have some concern that a plate would alter the flex of the ski as the 88 is designed as a softer flexing ski I believe.

The FreeFlex stand height is 35mm (according to the Tyrolia website).
