Ski for Utah (Alta/Snowbird)?

Postby chris719 » Tue Feb 21, 2017 12:11 pm

I may be spending a few days in Utah soon and was wondering what you all thought would be the most appropriate ski to demo for the type of snow they have this time of year? I saw a shop that has a Stockli Laser AX for demo but not sure if the conditions warrant anything wider?

I ski in the east, mostly on ice, so my everyday ski is a Head iSL...

Dude, it depends. I just got back from 8 days in Utah, close to 70 inches in storm cycle. I busually bring an allarounder and demo as needed, I demoed 6 out of 8 days, by Friday afternoon, it was one of those rare days when big and surftyvskis are I their glory. I e suffered through firm conditions at snowbird Alta on other trips where a beer league GS ski would have the best choice....but right now, you're going to see the reason people get on planes and rent big skis. Most mountain demos let you swap all day, so play around and experiment.
