I offered a self-test method for picking a ski earlier on this thread. It was wrong.

PMTS doesn't classify skiers as "intermediate", "high intermediate", "advanced", etc. Such terms are meaningless on this forum. In PMTS, a skier's ability is understood by identifying the specific movements they can (or can't) make on skis, not by arbitrary or ill-defined categories.

This is why video is necessary. Without seeing a skier ski, it's difficult for Max or another coach to know whether a particular ski would be suitable for that skier's development.

My take on this is :-
PMTS Coaching Manual does classify movements as part of progressions - green, blue, black. There is no direct link into ski choice for each level and a PMTS coach/instructor could make much better recommendations if they are able to see the skiing - directly or video. This would include MA, recommendations for progression, and if they knew what ski the person was on at least some comments re suitability for the skier.
This is the "whole system" approach that makes PMTS unlike any other.

It doesn't correlate in any useful way with TTS grades/levels etc.
