The 170cm CX looks like fun.

We had a pair of CXs in the group last year. Don't know if this years is the same or not.
On paper it looks interesting, in real life it was sort of one dimensional. Great grip but as you increased the tipping it just didn't like to shorten the radius.

I'm splitting time this year between some Laser SL and SC. Like them both for different reasons.

Wish we had some video to confirm but I'd hazard a guess that the skiers were backing away from the tip pressure.

Yea, I may still have issues but getting on the front of the ski usually isn't one of them.

I really wanted to like the ski. It was a really nice relaxed cruiser when you wanted it, and gripped like mad when you needed it.
Big Stockli fan, just have to find the one that suits you.

I've been skiing the Laser SX the past two seasons and Max has skied mine as well. That ski will bend and it is stiffer than the CX. Great ski!!

If you've got some pics or video skiing the CX or a racestock SL that would help with the diagnosis.

The SX and CX are race bred skis and take a certain level of "charge" to ski them well.

This is on the SX a few seasons back. Note the total commitment to the High-C:

And here you can see I'm working hard to "CHARGE!":

The CX that was skied by "the crew" was the older model. The CX did change last season and is the same for this season.

Older CX (up through the 2012 season): 116-69-100 (15.1m radius for the 170cm)
Newer CX (starting with the 2013 season): 122-68-100 (14.1m radius for the 170cm)

Note that I believe that the flex pattern was also changed a bit, but I don't recall exactly what those changes were at the moment.

How do the stocklis compare to the kastles?? As marquis boutique skis, I only read about them but never demo or ski them as the cost is just too prohibitive. But I'd think the are each others main rivals in the US market--with Kastle seeming to have an usually large distribution for such an expensive ski--and a brand that was only revived a few years ago. Both have very loyal followings. Have you guys skied both lines and comparable models? Worth the money?

Yes

Not in my opinion. But with Head pulling out of the sub 70mm category the options are becoming limited.

Anybody experience the Stockli StormRider series (95, 100, 107, Pro)? On paper they kind of remind me of the Head Rev series or the late RnR series, minus the garish graphics, plus mo' $$$.

Lots of discussion on these over at Epic. The Starthaus crew liked them so much they decided to carry the 95 and the 107 for this season. I think dawgcatching may have them as well. If so, then Max_501 may be able to get some time on them and report back.

I've been on quite a few of the wider Stockli skis. In general they have wider TR and like to go straight. The have amazing grip on groomers and feel much thinner than their width when on edge on hard snow. For years they were making very stiff (think GS race skis) wide skis with wide turn radii. Some of this has changed with some of the newer skis that have more rocker and tighter TR. I have skied the 95. The Head RNR is IMO a better and more user friendly ski. The Stockli is stiffer and creates massive stability on edge but is harder to bend. Everywhere else the RNR is a better ski (agin IMO).
