Supershape size question--another one.

Postby skinny » Fri Feb 23, 2007 9:07 pm

I'm an advanced intermediate skier. Probably level 6-7. I'm 5'9" and weigh 170. I'm wondering what size Supershape I should try. I can get a good deal on 160 length, but I tend to think 165 or 170 would be better. Also under consideration are Fischer RX8s. I am now skiing Head iC160s.

I wouldn't go any longer than 165. That ski is made to ski shorter. I'm a 200 pounder, and I wouldn't buy anything longer than a 170. The RX8 would also be a good choice, quite a bit more forgiving than the SS, IMO. The SS likes to be pushed, the more you put in, the more you get out of it. The RX8 is a more relaxing ride.

What about the super shapes in the 160 size. I keep thinking that this would be too short and the 165 would be better. Any thoughts? I know from earlier threads that some thought that either this years or last years 160s skiied dofferently (softer) than the rest of the super shapes.

Get the 165 since thats the right size for your weight and ability and it wont hold you back if you improve in your ski technique and from what ive heard and maybe this is just rumor but the 160 cms size supposedly is for people of something like 135 lbs and lighter.
If your skiing feels good to you then it is good for you but that doesnt mean you cant improve your skiing okay?

I'm 5'10 and 185lbs. I ski the SS in a 165 and really love it. Very practical and fun size for me, especially since I'm not in big mountains, i can get lots of turns per run with them. I think it's a very good size: bigger and you get a bigger radius, smaller, and I think you may overpower them, perhaps. IMHO
