Help me find my new boots!

Postby Ron » Mon Oct 09, 2006 6:18 am

OK, I need a medium to plus (not overly wide toe box) due to foot bed work, wedges under bed to correct nasty pronation
Medium to narrow forefoot
low to moderate instep
narrow ankle
NARROW to Ouch calf.

Use, 70% gromed east coast snow, 30% will be trips out west, and piled up loose stuff here at home
NEUTRAL AS POSSIBLE, NON-ROTARY

Currently in Hot rods, top fuels but just too much volume. Flex is fine. (Nordica 115 FWIW)

Looking at:
Head RS96
Head 110 (not too sure)
Atomic Race Tec CW (Looks like best fit and performance)
Soli Falcon 10

Looking for a 310ish shell
Educated thoughts, opinions and best places to buy. I will take to my fitter extrodinaire, Billy Kaplan.
Thanks

Ron

Your best bet is the Head RD96, it comes in a more resonable flex then the next move up in Nordica, which is the Dobermann 150 race boot. Any boot with a volume rating around 96 will be tough to get on and off when they are cold, but Head has done alot to improve this situation.

thanks Harold! what size shell do you thin would be best to start with? My fitter is looking to end up with about a 310/312ish size. I am also a big Head proponent (supershapes and 82's) but do you have any thoughts about the Atomics? My one concerne was forward lean and ramp. I like to be a neutral and upright as possible.
Thanks

Same question, different set of feet,

Looking to replace a set of 5+ yr old Tecnica Rival X9.
290 - 295 shell 334mm sole length, flex index 70.
Having learnt about boot technologies, these are a rotary boot which do not work for a neturally aligned set of knees / ankles.

220lb 42 yo 6'3" male. And like Peter K a 34" inside leg.
With a wide big Kiwi foot (great hold on the ground)

My skiing is all over the mountain, groomed and off piste. Mostly Turoa ice & crud, with occasional (regular almost) trips to Colorado.

Working on a plan to get to Harald's shop when we are in Colorado in Dec / Jan.

Any educated thoughts please ?
