Bindings 2023

Postby Mikey B » Wed Nov 30, 2022 8:45 am

Looking to put a Tyrolia binding on a pair of Blossom AM77s. I would appreciate any recommendations and input.

Thx,

Mike

I bought mine with the Vist bindings, that's what the dealer sold and suggested :)

Thanks! The reason I am avoiding Vist bindings is not many shops carry nor work on them. Tyrolia is everywhere. Was specifically looking for Tyrolia line recommendation.

Thx again!

I would go with the Head/Tyrolia PRD 12s. They are almost always available on ebay for around $150. It's a solid binding and it has a gentle plate that does not stiffen the ski but gives some stand height to increase tipping ability. I have them on all of my non race skis. They are also adjustable so if your BSL changes or if you want to let your friends try your skis, you can adjust the bindings right on the hill or in your garage/shop etc. And all skis ski better with some type of plate which eliminates the dead spot which occurs when bindings are mounted flat on a ski.

I second the PRD12 for all reasons noted by jbotti. Plus the PowerRail mounting system allows one to fine tune the fore-aft boot position on the ski.
For me, moving my boots two clicks forward made a huge difference in the performance of my White Outs. Perhaps the PowerRail was mounted too far back, but then I often find a one click forward boot position makes a difference for me.

Thx John and BA. I have those bindings on 2 other pairs of skis so I am very familiar with them.
Appreciated.

Does anyone have any experience using the head/tyrolia power rail binding on wider skis? I was thinking of mounting some prd 14s on a 104 waisted ski.

I use them on all my skis. I have two pairs of skis that are 105 underfoot. I hardly ever ski them, but I like the PRD system with the plate far better than mounting flat. Added stack height is a plus if you tip and the plate eliminates the dead spot.
