How to remove the small wedge during transition?

How to remove the small wedge during transition?

Postby Bingster » Sat Feb 16, 2013 8:33 am

Following the instruction of performance check section of Book 2 chapter 4 which is about Releasing, I looked down at my skies during the transition, and noticed my 2 skies are not always parallel during the transition. I see a wedge every time during the transition. But after the transition, I was able to pull the tail of the inside ski toward the new outside ski quickly and make them parallel again.

But does anybody have any suggestions about how to get rid of this wedge completely?

Yes, I worked through book 1 except chapters about bumps and powder last year. Am I missing something?

You're releasing the wrong ski first. It sounds like your're flattening and releasing the free foot ski first, which means the free foot is now big toe edge dominant, as is your stance ski, and you get a wedge. You need to flatten the existing stance ski first, while remaining on the little toe edge of the free foot.

You may also want to get the book 1 DVD if you don't have it.
The video looks pretty dated but the information in it is not.
It may help to clear up misconceptions you have after reading the book.
