Short Turns MA Request for Bev.

Short Turns MA Request for Bev.

Postby bev » Sun Jan 20, 2013 8:13 pm

Hi All - Art and I shot some video in Mammoth this last week. It's my first day on new REV 80's which I love so far. Here are some "brushed turns" but I use the term loosely. This is the same sequence Reg Speed, SlowMo, Reg Speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

Sorry Bev, there is a stem in both turns to the left and turns to the right. Freeze the video at each transition and observe that the new inside ski is not tipping to LTE first. (always lead with the LTE).

Can you ride on the little toe edge and do uphill turns/garlands both ways?

If no, perhaps alignment issues.

If yes, try exaggerated phantom moves with target tipping.

Once sorted, get stuck into counter balance exercises to minimise the leaning.

To 99% of the mountain I'm sure you look elegant, unfortunately we all want more than that here, and I'm sure you can correct these couple of issues with Art's help.

Thanks for sharing and letting us MA you.

Hi BEV, your good side is when you turn to the left.
when you turn to the right you are missing counter balance plus your left arm pole is moving in front of your boot causing rotation.
CA exercises plus No swing pole plant to correct the right turn

MonsterMan has it right. There's a stem move on every turn along with an up move to release (no flexing of the old stance ski). The upper body stuff will need to wait until Bev has learned PMTS tipping and how to correctly release.

Find some nice flat areas and work on the tipping drills. When skiing work on perfecting the super phantom.
