Angry Mothers drill

Postby LiquidFeet » Wed Jan 06, 2016 7:42 am

I don't post here but do lurk quite a bit in preparation for my first PMTS camp later this month. I've been reading and just found mention of the Angry Mothers drill. What is this?

The Angry Mother drill is a progression that teaches strong CA and finishes with a NSPP.

I have strong feelings about this drill.

This drill replaces the dork-o-meter.

Why would anyone want to replace the dork-o-meter?

By far the single best drill to produce CA in ones skiing. It has been a game changer for me.
Balance: Essential in skiing and in life!

Strongly negative.

It is a great drill though.

LF,

I know that you're an instructor and like to ingest skiing technique info. If you're trying to get a firm grip on PMTS before attending camp look also at Harald's performance checkpoint list for PMTS skiers numbered in priority order here viewforum.php?f=27

Thanks, Todd. I'm somewhat familiar with PMTS as I taught myself to carve using the books way back when.
So yes, I've looked at that list and am familiar with it. The reminder is good, however.

Still wondering about this colorfully named drill. What does an angry mother have to do with a skiing drill?
Would it make my mother mad to see me doing it? Or does doing it make me look like an angry mother?

Have you ever seen a frustrated mother putting both her hands on her hips, elbows tucked out, and swiveling her entire upper body, pelvis included, to focus her gaze on a child who's moving trying to dodge a verbal barrage? This drill is that, but with a different target to follow and done while skiing.

Not much to explain. I'm just not good at them.

The two e-videos are a great addition to your PMTS library. I often work on these using my tipping board. For even more improvement use with the three pole drill show in the new free evideos
