If you want to up your game...

Postby geoffda » Thu Mar 06, 2014 8:11 pm

Grab a few days with Diana. She is a truly gifted instructor as well as a great skier. My goal from the session was to start laying down arcs on blue terrain. Here is some video from early on in day two. On High Noon at A-Basin (which is a solid Western blue). The snow was a bit soft and inconsistent, so this run was a bit of a fight. I didn't like it at the time, but when I saw it on video, I wasn't displeased. While this is still very much a work in progress (and there are plenty of problems evident in this footage), I ended up with a very solid understanding of what I need to do to accomplish my goals and video confirmation that I'm on the right track. Well worth every penny spent. Thanks Diana!

Hi Geoff,
thanks for sharing.
It looks like your supershapes had really enough.
Now, I 've got it, what you can do to the ski.

Great skiing, my wife and I know that to move to next level we need the help of a true expert in PMTS. I wish we lived out there. Skied with Todd in December he told me what a great teacher she is and how much she improved his skiing.

Great skiing Geoff,
Pleasure to watch.
Agree with you that private lessons or camp is the best way to improve our skiing. Those who are part of that forum and never took a lesson or went to camp should really consider that idea.

The funny thing is that I was actually having to back off a bit. There is lots more you can get out of an iSuperShape, but I don't yet have the skill to handle the forces I'm capable of generating with that ski.

What did Diana suggest you work on?

Power Releases. I'm trying to learn how to add stance-leg flexion in the bottom half of the arc to allow continuing to increase the tipping to hook the turn finish and bring my skis back under me. As opposed to simply standing on the ski once the pressure comes. Not standing on the ski is a hard thing to learn. Also, she had me working on finishing the turns perpendicular to the fall line for speed control. This is also a huge struggle for me right now.
