Web sites w/ Examples of Non/anti PMTS technique & Teach

Another topic asked for clear descriptions of the differences between PMTS and TTSs. Sometimes a good example is also useful. I was browsing some teaching sites and thought that this topic might be useful as long as it stays descriptive or analytical and doesn't degrade into mud slinging Keep humble and inquisitive.

So here is a first site to start the topic.

Shapeski.com

Among other things the model of skiing presented on the site works with:

1) a horizontally wide stance as opposed to a PMTS emphasis on a horizontally narrow stance.

2) advocates initiating turn motions in the upper body rather than the feet rather than a PMTS emphasis on starting with the feet.

In fact, he states flatly that he just doesn't get what people are talking about when they say to use the anlkes for edging -- they aren't strong enough.

3) advocates a strong satnce leg knee drive as opposed to a PMTS emphasis on free foot tipping toward the LTE and matched edge angles.

For a good introduction go to his FAQ 8: "Why not To Edge with The Ankles?"

http://www.shapeski.com/faq8.html

and then click the more button to get "HOW DO I INITIATE A TIGHT, CLEAN CARVE?". Maybe an image is enough:

He attributes the development of his teaching system to ideas he got while watching what WC racers like Miller and Pallander and Maier do.
