I just have to reply to it since I am working on the very movement in my skiing.
Maybe what I am going to say is not super perfect but here it is:
Here are the things that help me:
- keeping weight on the stance ski
- tipping the free foot to LTE
- relaxing the hip above my free foot. Especially the front of the hip.
- allowing the pressure from the tipping foot to move the hips into countered position (extend/stretch and counter rotate the hip over the free foot).
Relaxing the hip (especially the front of it) allows the tipping action of the foot to be transferred up to the hip resulting in both hip counter balance and counter acting movements controlled fully by the actions of small muscles around the free foot.
I try not to explicitly contract any hip muscles or lower trunk muscles to create the counter.
FINALLY, with this approach to get big angles tip free foot like there is no tomorrow!
